Nasser Mejia Moreno’s map shows a mosaic of important places and cultural symbols in Nicaragua. He represents each region of his geographically and culturally diverse country with a drawing of a cultural activity or historical site, such as the traditional ceramics of Raas or the Palo de Mayo dances of Bluefields . This map gives the observer an understanding of Nicaragua’s rich history and vibrant ways of life, ranging from coffee culture to colonial cities, and including natural features such as majestic volcanoes. The original map was painted with acrylics on home-made paper.
