Marco Herandez’s map shows Guatemala’s 22 departments with dark black lines representing the borders between the departments. The people of Guatemala speak different dialects of the Mayan language. Each color on the map represents the Mayan language spoken in the region. In some departments, there can be as many as six spoken Mayan languages. This brightly colored map celebrates the diversity of languages in Guatemala.
